Between the Leaves Book Club with NPSNJ and The Nature of Reading Bookshop
May 20 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Native Plant Society of NJ and The Nature of Reading Bookshop are excited to announce a new collaborative project: Between the Leaves Book Club. The virtual book club will meet once a season over Zoom to discuss a book that celebrates the joys of native plant gardening, the beauty of the natural world, and the many ways in which we can care for our planet.
Join us Monday evening, May 20th 2024 for a discussion of Margaret Renkl’s The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year. In this dazzling literary devotional, Margaret Renkl chronicles a year in her backyard, observing nature and reflecting on life’s rhythms. The book features fifty-two original color artworks by the author’s brother, Billy Renkl. Overall, the book celebrates the natural world’s joys and grieves its losses, all while exploring themes of change, hope, and resilience.
Be sure to listen to the interview with Margaret and Billy Renkl on the April episode of The WildStory podcast by NPSNJ.
The book club will be facilitated by and Kim Correro and Hailey Brock, founder of The Nature of Reading Bookshop. We hope you’re able to join us to read and discuss this special book.
