October Hunterdon Chapter Meeting & Hubert Ling Lecture

October 18, 2022 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

The Lowest Plants That Save & Sometimes Bug Or Kill You

Speaker:
Hubert Ling, Ph.D.
Past President, Native Plant Society, NJ
Primitive photosynthetic organisms are generally ignored and unknown, however, these plants are essential to our survival and continually interact with humans in a multitude of ways. Hubert will tell tales of adventure, discovery, amazement, sickness, death and life.

You will see the1 mm organism which can be observed from outer space and once saved an astronaut. Learn about the superfood which was rediscovered after 445 years and the traditional Asian dessert which has about zero calories. Also you will see organisms who grow glass houses, visit a rainbow ice cave, see a leaf sheep, and learn how we solved a 100 yr. old mystery of the ‘impossible’ giant plant fossil.
