Self-Drive Trip to Duke Farms

Join us for a self-drive trip to Duke Farms in Hillsborough, NJ. We will meet our guide, Lisa Davies, at the Farm Barn Orientation Center at 9:45 am for a 90-minute tour, which will finish in time for lunch. Lunch will be on your own. There is a small cafe on site, you may bring your own and tailgate, or go offsite.

After lunch, feel free to explore the grounds on your own. Duke Farms has more than 20 miles of trails that wind through wooded areas and meadows filled with native plants. It also has an orchid house filled with tropical orchids, nesting bald eagles, a sculpture garden, many beautiful historic buildings and numerous landscape features, including a waterfall. The trails are closed to motor traffic, and many are wheelchair accessible.

You may bring your own bicycle or rent one if available – sometimes they sell out. Note that the cost of bike rental is not included in the trip cost.

Please note that this event will occur rain or shine, and there are only a few places on the property to shelter from the elements. Please plan accordingly and dress for the weather.

Duke Farms is a 2,700-acre center for environmental stewardship in Hillsborough, NJ. Once the estate of Doris Duke, it was designated in her will to become an education center devoted to the environment and sustainability innovation.
