Patchwork for Wildlife with Jon Gibbons
November 28, 2023 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The objective of Patchwork for Wildlife is to create a significant area of eco-friendly landscaping in a town by focusing on one yard at a time. Take a break from the hustle & bustle of the holiday season to learn about the impact this environmental improvement project had in the nearby Lake Como section of Belmar, made possible by a local citizen and his neighbors. Please join the Jersey Shore and Monmouth County Chapters on Tuesday, November 28th from 6:00 – 7:15 pm as Jon Gibbons discusses his Patchwork for Wildlife project and how this success story can be emulated by other local communities.
OUR SPEAKER: Originally from the Jersey Shore, Jon Gibbons has enjoyed a varied architectural career, practicing both in England and the United States. In recent years he worked for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, then to the Smithsonian Institution. Retired in Lake Como, he advocates for environmentally friendly landscaping and gardening, focusing on native plants and pollinators. He runs Candide’s Garden, which offers a menu of environmental solutions for local homeowners, youths, and organizations. He also leads an innovative program to create a more beneficial natural and social environment in his community, all within residential properties.
