Mushroom Foraging with Jeffrey Mertz

We will start with a few minutes of basic foraging etiquette, a few basic ID characteristics, and how to use the Peterson Field Guide to Mushrooms. Then set off on a 2 hour exploration of the woods. Mushrooms will be collected and identified in real-time or afterward, if they aren’t easily identified. You will learn techniques and skills to build confidence in mushroom identification for your own future foraging adventures.
Our walk will mainly be to ID mushrooms. Most will not be the edible kind. However, if we ID any edible ones we can take them home if there are enough to share.
Boots and long pants are required.
