September 9, 2023 @ 10:00 am – 2:30 pm
On September 9th, The Native Plant Society of New Jersey is encouraging all of our members to explore the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Harding Township, New Jersey! The NPSNJ day at the Great Swamp will be held in conjunction with the Great Swamp Fall Festival – a fun filled day of adventure and discovery!
Be sure to visit the NPSNJ table near the refuge visitor center between 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM. If you are an NPSNJ member, you’ll receive a free gift: an enamel pin celebrating our 40th Anniversary!
The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge is located in Morris County, NJ about 26 miles west of Manhattan’s Times Square. Today the refuge consists of 7,768 acres of varied habitats and has become an important resting and feeding area for more than 244 species of birds. Fox, deer, muskrat, turtles, fish, frogs, and a wonderful variety of native plants can be found at the refuge.
So pack a picnic lunch and a camera because it’s going to be an exciting day to walk the trails and revel in the wonder of this natural oasis.
