NPSNJ members play a vital role in preserving and protecting our state’s native plants and natural habitats for future generations. Established in 1983, NPSNJ unites gardeners, horticulturists, naturalists, landscape designers, students, and plant enthusiasts from all walks of life. Our mission is to promote the appreciation, protection, and study of New Jersey’s native flora. Through regular lectures, presentations, nature walks, and garden tours, we strive to educate and engage the community in ecological landscaping and the importance of native plants. By fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our native flora, NPSNJ aims to ensure the preservation of New Jersey’s unique botanical heritage for generations to come
The NPSNJ is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and all contributions are tax-deductible in full.

Annual Meeting and Conference
Each year, NPSNJ hosts an Annual Meeting and Conference, bringing together experts and enthusiasts to discuss topics related to native plants and ecosystems. This event offers presentations, informative displays, and networking opportunities to deepen your knowledge and connect with like-minded individuals.
Online Classes
Throughout the year, members can participate in online classes covering various subjects, from Botany to Native Plant Garden Design to Botanical Illustration. We charge for these virtual sessions to cover the costs of noted experts in the field, but these classes are for members only.
In-Person Members’ Events
In addition to virtual offerings, NPSNJ organizes in-person events exclusively for members, such as field trips, nature walks, workshops, and even overnight trips. These activities provide hands-on experiences and opportunities to connect with fellow plant lovers.
Community Engagement
Community engagement through our chapters is a cornerstone of NPSNJ’s mission. Members are encouraged to join local chapters to participate in conservation projects, educational outreach, and volunteer activities aimed at promoting native plant awareness.
Newsletter
Members receive a seasonal newsletter filled with articles, updates, and information on upcoming events, keeping them informed about the latest developments in native plant conservation.
Advocacy
NPSNJ advocates for the protection and preservation of native plant habitats. Members have the opportunity to support and participate in these advocacy efforts, contributing to the broader goal of environmental stewardship.
