Weatherwood Ridge Reserve Visit: Revitalizing a Piece of Bucks County’s Ecological Heritage with David Hughes
August 29 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
Tour is rain or shine! Dress for the weather: comfortable, water-resistant shoes & appropriate outer wear.
Purchased in 2014, Weatherwood Ridge Reserve woodland areas were once over browsed by deer and overrun by invasive plants, yet now within the course of a decade, the property has a thriving forest-floor community of native plants. The monoculture of lawn has been replaced with an indigenous wildflower meadow and the whole property has a variety of healthier, biodiverse native plant communities. Vernal pools and rain gardens have been created to add a thriving wetland community to the site. Join us for a private tour of this inspirational property and listen to David Hughes give ecological techniques for healing our degraded landscapes, reflecting upon rich communities of native plants and the creatures that call them home.
