THE SOILS OF BURLINGTON COUNTY AND THE PLANTS THAT THRIVE HERE!
July 25, 2023 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
On July 25 at 7 PM, the Southwest Chapter will be hosting a FREE and IN-PERSON event at Pinelands Preservation Alliance with a presentation by Becky Laboy! No pre-registration required!
Burlington County is situated in the Coastal Plain region of New Jersey. The mostly sandy, acidic, nutrient-poor soil of this region supports a diversity of plant life. Join us as we dig deeper and explore the properties of local soils and some favorite plants they support.
Becky Laboy is the full-time Education Outreach Specialist with Ocean County Soil Conservation District, where she develops programs and instructs school children, scout groups and community groups on topics related to soil, native plants, and eco-friendly gardening. She is an adjunct professor at Kean University where she teaches Soil Science. She has over 25 years of experience as a formal classroom teacher and informal environmental educator. Becky also serves as a co-leader for the Jersey Shore Chapter of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. In her free time, Becky can usually be found behind a pair of binoculars admiring birds. She enjoys landscaping her own yard with natives to attract and support birds, pollinators, and wildlife.
This will be a super educational talk at a gorgeous location and we’re looking forward to it! Hope to see you there!
