The Geological & Climate Change History of the Coastal Plain
June 16, 2025 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Parking Update:
Stockton has temporarily closed lots #4 and #5, so please follow the adjusted parking directions below to use either lot #2 or #3. This will bring you to the opposite entrance to the Unified Science Center (and to the same lobby and stairs — or elevator — that we always use.) See you Monday night!

With guest speaker Murray Rosenberg
South Jersey’s landscape has a long geological history that stretches back 200 million years and continues to evolve today. The water we drink, the plants and animals we see around us, the soils we garden, the forests we explore, the rivers and beaches we enjoy – all these and so much else have been determined by geology and climate change.
Our presenter, Murray Rosenberg, a retired professional geologist whose fascination with N.J.’s Pine Barrens began in high school, knows how to make both topics understandable. He will introduce the fundamental principles of geologic time and explore the processes that shaped the Atlantic Coastal Plain and our area in New Jersey. He will also discuss the long-term effects of climate change on global sea levels and how the glacial ice ages influenced the current location, geology, and uniqueness of our landscape.
This is our final gathering before our summer break. Come join us for a look back in time – and a glimpse or two into the future.
Directions & Parking:
For all classroom meetings this spring, we will be back on the second floor of the Unified Science Center and in Rm 246, one of the rooms we have used in the past. See the campus map below. The closest parking spots are in Lots #2 and #3.
From Vera King Farris Drive, the main drive on campus, turn in at the parking lot entrance sign labeled “Parking Lots 1, 2, and 3.” Drive through Lot #1 to its end and turn left. following the sign “Parking Lots #2 and #3.” These two lots will be on your immediate left. Park at the end of either lot and walk right to enter the Unified Science Building.
Parking spots will be easy to find since the University has very few classes or other events on June evenings.
