Teaneck Creek Conservancy Annual Community Science Plant Survey
June 13 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

| Hello Community Scientists! The Teaneck Creek Conservancy annual plant diversity survey is back for 2026. This year we’ll be gathering on Saturday, June 13 (rain date Sunday, June 14) to repeat our data collection in the restoration areas. As new invasive species management efforts are underway at the park, this monitoring data is especially important. You can see a summary of last year’s observations on our website (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RtbA0-38de_aTJSMCFhv1KqIpnuIKrd8/view?usp=sharing). This year, the event will feature a morning and afternoon session with a break for lunch and facilities in between for any volunteers staying all day. No plant identification skills are required. Each session will begin with hands-on training to provide all the necessary skills. Volunteer time slots are from: Morning Session: 8 am to 11:45 am Lunch & Heat Break Afternoon Session: 12:15 pm to 4 pm What to bring? We will be working out in the restored wetland areas, so you’ll be working in direct sun and in potentially soggy or flooded areas. We recommend wearing rubber boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will be walking in very tall grass and bugs might be out so you may be more comfortable in long pants. Other supplies to consider bringing include sunscreen, a hat, bug spray*, a water bottle, and snacks.
