Did you know there’s a magical Tiny Forest hidden right behind the Summit Community Center?

Thanks to a generous grant from New Jersey American Water and the incredible efforts of hundreds of volunteers, Summit is home to a thriving little forest filled with dozens of native plant species, which are all labeled so you can spot ideas for your own garden that will thrive in NJ’s climate.

Planted just 3 years ago using an accelerated growing method that originated in Japan, the Miyawaki Method, this lush space already feels like a peaceful escape in the middle of Summit. Thank you to Summit Environmental Commission Chair, Donna Goggin Patel, for spearheading this effort and to all of our residents who have pitched in to create this special spot.
