Spring into Native Plants: A Seed Planting Workshop

IN-PERSON SEED WORKSHOP WITH DR. RANDI ECKEL
The time to plant seeds is NOW! Learn techniques and tricks for growing native perennial plants from seed. Dr Randi Eckel will discuss seed dormancy, scarification, stratification, and other special seed treatments sometimes needed to coax seeds to grow. Each workshop participant will go home with several species of native plants all planted and ready to grow.
Species that we will be seeding include:
Eastern Purple Coneflower, Echinacea purpurea
Late Flowering Boneset, Eupatorium serotinum
Great Blue Lobelia, Lobelia siphilitica
Slender Mountainmint, Pycnanthemum tenuifolium
Smooth Blue Aster, Symphyotrichum laeve
Ohio Spiderwort, Tradescantia ohiensis

Directions: If you are driving, enter Lincoln Park off JFK Blvd. or Duncan Ave and drive the loop all the way around past the track until you come to the small greenhouses on the right. Enter the fenced area and park near the large gray greenhouse and the NPSNJ signage). Email with questions.
