Putting Some Wild in Your Yard – Garden Tour
May 9 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Bobbie Herbs has been working at her little habitat garden in Mt Laurel for seven seasons. She assessed her site by using Google Earth and designed the space using power point, creating a wetlands oasis of less than1/5th of an acre.
A perfect time of year to visit her garden, you can observe her secret shadow garden of spring ephemerals and shade loving plants before the Viburnum nudum leafs out. See how Penstemon digitalis ‘Husker Red’ starting from five plants has now formed a nursery where its offspring offer a variety of foliage colors. The Packera aurea’s last ray of sun will be nearing the end of its bloom. Learn how Bobbie manages (or doesn’t) this living mulch competitor.
Come and enjoy a respite in Bobbie’s tiny yard. Arrive curious and ready for inspiration. It’s the plants and insects that keep the planet habitable for life, including ours. Small pots of her garden’s more prolific plants will be offered for free until they run out. Take some home; put some wild in your yard.
