Old Growth Forest Walk

Experience this virgin oak-hickory forest where the average age of the trees is 235 years, and where the surrounding old agricultural fields provide a visual contrast.
Where: Hutchinson Memorial Forest, Mettler’s Woods, 2150 Amwell Road (Route 514), Franklin Township, NJ
Who: The tour will be led by Kamren C. Gorman, who is a Master’s student in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources at Rutgers University. He is conducting a wetland restoration monitoring project in Stafford Township where he examines how plant and bird communities respond to restoration efforts, with a focus on understanding patterns of ecological recovery over time.
