Nature Based Solutions to Manage Extreme Weather Events in the Royce Brook Watershed
February 21 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Much of New Jersey has been developed prior to 1983 when there were no stormwater management requirements for new development. Unmanaged stormwater runoff from this older development is causing most of the flooding and water quality problems. The Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) Water Resources Program has been studying the Royce Brook Watershed to determine if older development can be retrofitted to manage extreme storm events.
Presented by Christopher C. Obropta, Ph.D., P.E. the Extension Specialist in Water Resources with Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and he is a Professor with the Department of Environmental Sciences at the School of Environmental & Biological Sciences, Rutgers University.
