Free Guided Meadow Walk
September 6, 2025 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am

Description: Come see the late summer glory of Eagle Rock Meadow, ablaze in goldenrod and coreopsis and featuring rattlesnake master, joe pye weed, and rose mallow! As a native plant oasis amidst large fields of grass, the Meadow is home to butterflies, birds, and even dragonflies.
The Essex Chapter of NPSNJ has partnered with the Master Gardeners to refurbish the Meadow. We’ve created walking paths, removed invasives, and planted more native plants.
The Meadow was planted in 2014 but not maintained and so was overtaken by invasives like mugwort, phragmites, and purple loosestrife.
We will be walking on a path of wood chips; long pants and comfortable shoes are recommended.
Kids welcome; please leave dogs at home.
