The eco-printing technique is a pattern-designing and natural dyeing process using native plants. Participants will create their own silk scarf with natural items such as leaves, berries and seeds all indigenous to our area. This basic skills workshop focuses on techniques for establishing good clear prints in textiles from a live plant design. Instructor Kathleen Lang will guide students in choosing plants for the design and extracting the color into the scarf. The various applications of the technique on other surfaces and fabric types will be covered. Students will come away with a naturally dyed silk scarf and the resources necessary to help them carry on the technique at home.
