Discover the Fascinating World of Rare Plants in the Sourlands

Mark your calendar for an exciting evening of exploration into the unique and rare plant life of the Sourland region. Jared Rosenbaum, co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, will be giving an engaging talk, “Rare Plants and Primary Forests of the Sourlands.”
The event will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Montgomery Township Municipal Building, located at 100 Community Drive, Skillman, NJ 08558. Doors will open at 6:00pm. Guests are encouraged to meet the co-hosts and their community partners: Wild Ridge Plants, Sourland Conservancy, Somerset County Parks, Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space, and others.
Jared Rosenbaum is a botanist, ecological restoration practitioner, and co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, a nursery that specializes in native plants and seeds. He is a passionate advocate for native plant species and an expert on the ecology and conservation of the Sourlands region. In this talk, Jared will share his deep knowledge of the rare and endangered plants that thrive in the Sourlands, a unique ecological area in central New Jersey.
Attendees will gain insights into the importance of protecting these rare plant species, learn about their role in the local ecosystem, and discover how they can support conservation efforts in their own backyards. Whether you’re a nature lover, conservationist, or curious about the flora of the Sourlands, this talk will leave you inspired to preserve these extraordinary species.
The event is co-hosted by the Sourland Conservancy, the Somerset County Park Commission, Montgomery Township, and the Somerset, Hunterdon, and Mercer County chapters of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. These organizations are dedicated to preserving the ecological health of the Sourlands and promoting native plant species to foster biodiversity.
