Join Hazel England, Ecologist, and weather weary gardener, to learn about ways to “climate proof” your yards.

As extreme weather events and warmer temperatures become more frequent around New Jersey, it’s time to start thinking about ways to fortify your outdoor spaces.

Hazel has been Great Swamp Watershed Association’s Director of Education and Outreach and Stewardship for twenty years. At GSWA she develops educational programming building on GSWAs mission, with water quality focused programs for all ages. She has created many programs to connect participants to their place in the watershed, including Native plant sales and current ecological and environmental issues. She directs stewardship on the land the organization owns.

Prior to GSWA she was a Naturalist with Somerset County Park Commission and started work in this country in the NJ pines as the Director of the Whitesbog Preservation Trust- an organization protecting the birthplace of the blueberry!!

A native of Scotland, she has degrees in Zoology and Botany, and a master’s in Ecology and Environmental Management. When not working, you can usually find her in her garden, her kitchen, or cheering on her kids!
