Celebrate the close of summer in the Healing Garden at Peace Care St. Josephs

Step into the Hilltop neighborhood of Jersey City (corner of Magnolia and Baldwin Avenues). This special garden space is an ongoing restoration project with help from the Xerces Society and a 2025 Mini Grant from the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. Filled with New Jersey’s native plants including Hydrangea arborescens, Canadian Serviceberry, Black Chokeberry, Witch Hazel, Elderberry, Inkberry Holly, Butterfly Milkweed, Blue Mistflower, New England Aster, ferns, and more. Nestled among Eastern Red Cedars and Eastern Redbuds, this sanctuary offers residents a place of peace while providing butterflies, moths, bees, and hummingbirds with a daily feast and serving as a vital stopover for migrating birds traveling through Journal Square. Join us for light snacks and a conversation about which native plants are thriving, which ones have struggled, and how we’re using resilient natives to outcompete invasive species.
